Our trip to China was unlike any other we have taken together. We traveled to Shanghai to participate in the annual FHC International Culinary Competitions. It was a crazy, busy experience. Still, as culinarians, we had to get out for just a bit to try local fare.

One of our first nights, we walked down the street from our hotel to a noodle shop. It was a small place that opened up to the street, so you could actually see the cook pulling noodles to order.  Cool.

Later in the week, we visited the famous Nanxiang dumpling house located at the City God Temple. The line to get in was very long (good sign), and it was worth it. We had an extravagant multi-course lunch that consisted of many dumplings, sticky buns, and other Chinese delights.

Everywhere, we went we had incredible food and service for a very reasonable price. Dining on a Dime in Shanghai is a breeze. We got some of the best Chinese food we have ever had just off the street. And the people? They were so nice, we didn't want to leave.

All-in-all if you are into food and travel, you must set a goal to travel to Shanghai!
