After just returning from a recent trip to China, we decided to forego Asian food for awhile.
The warm December afternoon in Phoenix, and we were in the mood for a nice light lunch. We came across a little place on Central just south of Missouri called Postino and thought it would be a perfect Dining on a Dime opportunity (the best meal we can find for $30).
Julie had a vegetarian Panini which was artichokes, grilled asparagus, red onion, tomatoes goat cheese, and pesto on crisp Panini bread accompanied by a Mediterranean salad (she loves her Greek food).
Katie enjoyed a Prosciutto with triple cream Brie, fig jam, arugula, balsamic and olive oil with a mixed green salad of sliced pears, candied pecans, fried leeks, grapes, gorgonzola, and poppy seed vinaigrette.
These sandwiches were to die for! The flavors were clean, fresh and perfect for a light lunch. Seeing that we were at a popular wine bar Katie couldn’t resist trying a glass of sparkling Sauvignon Blanc which paired nicely with her lunch.
We gave in to our weakness for dessert and split and a salted caramel sundae. It was a glass of vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate covered corn nuts, a pretzel stick and a shot glass of salted caramel was drizzled on top by our server.
Though we missed our mark by a slight margin (wine will do that), we would both agree that we would most definitely dine at Postino again in the near future and not just for the cute waiter.
